Liebster Award

Hello there readers! So, now that I've gotten those exams out of the way, I have endless amount of free time.

(Until November 7th, that is!)

So, this post is about the Liebster Award, for which I got nominated by darling Eve who owns this amazing blog: http://penandkey.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/nominated-for-liebster-award.html

Here are my answers, Eve. They're a bit too long, I hope you aren't too bored! :(

What would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?

Let me be honest about this. I’m not the lottery kind of a person because I’m not someone who believes in “luck”. I happen to be someone who values hardwork and talent more than luck.

If I do win the lottery, then –

Well, it’s highly dependent on the money that I get from the lottery.

Let’s create a hypothetical situation, shall we? Let’s say I get like five million dollars as my grand prize, after the deductions of taxes. Out of the five million, I’d use seventy five thousand to ninety thousand dollars for myself (you know, for my education, books and travelling) and use the rest to buy gifts for my immediate family and friends because I believe they’ve done a lot for me and I must return their favour by doing something for their happiness.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Oh. My. God. This is the most difficult question ever. A BILLION people have asked me that, already and I have given them a variety of answers. Plus, what’s worse is some of them actually dole out advice.

I even have endless discussions with my cousin about it. Like, the both of us are so, so, confused about it whereas our peers have planned out what they want to do with their lives! It’s actually nice to have someone who’s as muddled up as you are.

Plus, it has been very well written on this blogpost.

So, onto this question.

I’d REALLY love to be a writer or an editor of a super-awesome magazine. But for those desires to happen, I first need to have a lot of money at hand too. Because let’s face it, money is important, no matter what you say. It’s not primal, but still, you need money to live. And I do not want to be a liability to anybody, because I HATE being useless.

Okay, so I have this (totally retarded) decadal plan:

In my 20s, I’d love to work and be successful. You know, earn loads of money and reserve a huge chunk for my parents (as I’m an only child, I’ll have to earn a lot more than my peers, because I want my parents to have a comfortable life. I don’t want to toss them in an old-age home just to fulfil my own desires).

Then, in my 30s and 40s, I’d love to pursue my creative desires. You know, continue writing and study more (hell, I even want to do a PhD, is that nerdy of me?). I’d love to start a magazine – not a magazine like Vogue or Femina. I’d love to start one like The Week or Time. Or maybe a children’s magazine, like Tinkle.

In my 50s, I’d love to run an NGO, be a UNICEF ambassador or whatever. I’ve joined this club in my locality which aims at helping out the impoverished kids but I haven’t taken part in any of the activities due to time constraints (being in twelfth grade totally sucks!).

In my 60s, I’d love to be a cool granny who’d love her grandkids and who never torments her daughter-in-law.

(There has to be another fact altogether that the daughter-in-law should be a nice girl, not a snooty spoilt brat. If she’s a spoilt brat, she ain’t getting a penny from my pocket).

So, there’s my lame decadal plan.

Please don't make fun of me for this one. It's one of my deepest, innermost desires and I've written this down with great difficulty and after a lot of brainstorming. So, please respect it and don't poke fun at me for this.

If you could live anywhere on earth (and take whomever you wanted along), where would it be?

There are so many places I’d love to live in – Italy, France, Austria, Germany (Hamburg!), Australia, the US and whatnot! Oh God, I want to live in a place which has a lot of history and which is really, really rich in culture.

But mostly, I’d love to live in Greece and I’d take along my oldest best friend alongside. Both of us have been huge fans of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series. Because of his books, both of us have started loving and appreciating the wonders of Greek mythology. Moreover, the Grecian architecture is amazing! It’s so aesthetically appealing and so … I simply don’t have words to describe its beauty!

What do you admire most about yourself?

Hahaha, I’m a narcissistic drama-queen. I admire everything about myself.

Just kidding. I have a lot of flaws. I ain’t no beauty queen (I have a weird nose and an ugly chin. Ugh, and did I tell you about my cheeks?). I can’t dance to save my life. I have never been a major winner in life. I suffer from a severe case of stage fright (occasionally). I am paranoid about the fact that everyone who happens to be a part of my family hates my guts because I’m so lame, talkative, immature and shiz.

But as of late, I have developed a different, healthier attitude towards my insecurities. Now-a-days, when people look at me in disdain, I just don’t care. I wear what I like, talk what I want and I just don’t care about anything except I try hard not to hurt someone’s feelings.

Yep. My thoughts have undergone a major change, especially after I went to this amazing Pasch camp in May. Over there, I finally realized that there lies no point dwelling over what people think about you.  Just be yourself.

And here I am, being myself.

However, more than anything else, I admire myself for trying out things.

Why did you start blogging?

I guess I was around twelve, when I got my first blog. I came to know about the term blog because of my cousin brother (a thirty-something year old dude, who is about as mature as a thirteen-year-old kid).

(I really hope he doesn’t read this post or else he’d kill me.)

He had a blog on Wordpress and he wrote about, um, computers.

So, I thought, why don’t I have a blog too? Instead of computers, I can write stories, poems and my views of the world. That would be fun, right?

I bugged my dad a lot and he finally made a blog for me. I used it for a while. Stopped using it during my eighth grade and made a new one – that is http://eeriefairy.blogspot.com – in December. Now, I write extensively on this blog and you’re currently reading it! Happy reading!

What pet would you own if you could own any animal in the world?

A dog, of course.

I’ve always loved dogs. They are so innocent, so adorable and so, so loyal. As a daughter of a man who owned an Alsatian for the major part of his childhood and a woman who has a degree in zoology, I love animals.

When I was about four, My dad’s uncle had an Alsatian dog which was (horrendously) named “Tintoo” and she stayed in our house for a couple of weeks. After that, she got hauled off to Kerala, which was really saddening.

Then, a year later or so, my dad got another dog – a Dalmatian! – called “Lucky”. And Lucky was one spicy little doggy. She was like my dog-self – totally hyperactive and really crazy. All the little boys in my neighbourhood would speak to her in English because her name was Lucky (they thought it would only understand English or something!).

After a year later, my mom and I shifted to the city I now live in and my Dad’s friend took away Lucky.

I don’t know if she’s alive anymore or not.

And that makes me really, really sad.

So that’s why, I love dogs. And I’d buy one as soon as I have a stable job.

What’s your favorite hobby?

Writing is like a drug I can’t live without. I've always loved writing because it involves a lot of creativity and it just comes easily to me.

(I'm not bragging. Just stating a fact)

It’s pretty obvious from this blog that I am a passionate reader. I have been reading since I was nine years old and all the credits go to my lovely aunt who persevered and instilled the love I have for reading.

I also love to draw but I am sucktastic at painting the designs. In my spare time, I buy embroidery kits, Venetian mask-making kits or quilling paper to come up with something new.

When I was in tenth grade, I created a shoe out of thermocol, mount board and box-board. It looked really, really nice but it wasn’t something you could wear outside. Moreover, it’s another matter altogether that my evil mother chucked it in the bin a few months later.

You could say I’m an unskilled craftswoman, ha-ha. :)

What’s your superpower? Would you use it for good or for evil?

I’d love to have mind-controlling as a power because well, you control minds. You’re basically a puppeteer and the people are marionettes. You tug the strings and they move. It’d be super fun, though.

It depends on what I find good and what I'd find evil, of course! :)

What is your favorite dessert?

A cone ice-cream after dinner. It is such a stress-buster.

Favourite youtuber?

SO MANY YOUTUBERS OUT THERE, ONE JUST CAN’T DECIDE!

Okay, so my favourite Youtuber would be Superwoman, because she’s such a super-positive person and she takes on every challenge with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Moreover, I love her exaggerated-sense of humour.

I know that a lot of people find her kinda lame but I admire her a lot. She’s one of those people who makes you feel completely better about yourself and I recommend each and every one of you to watch her videos.

Also, I love Miranda Sings, Ryan Higa, Bart Baker and Cass Jay Tuck too! :-)

Much love,

Archie.
