Trust

No matter how much you deny,
A lot of people don't know,
What really does go,
On in your mysterious mind;

They say you're ordinary,
Sweet, simple and soft;
But I know you better,
You're enigmatic and a hopeless fool;

I see right through you,
I see right past your innocent smile,
I see right past your sweet voice,
I see that you're a lonesome being with no choice;

To you, trust is a treasure,
Which has no measure;
To you, trust is a luxury,
That you cannot afford to lose;

You have a biased view,
About this world;
You think everyone is waiting,
To hurt you real bad;

You think the world wants,
You to fall deep into a bottomless pit,
You think they'd love to see,
The light in your eyes unlit;

According to you,
Sharing your secret,
Is like giving away,
Your credit card;

You may be a strong person,
But right now,
You're cautious, fearful and downright scared,
You're scratched, bruised and disfiguring-ly scarred;

You'd rather murder your own family,
Than share your deepest thoughts,
You'd rather become a detached, holy saint,
Than give anybody the access to your heart;

To you, trust is a treasure,
Which has no measure;
To you, trust is a luxury,
That you cannot afford to lose;

But my dear, don't you see,
That you're a trapped bird,
Locked in a golden cage
Totally not free;

But my dear, don't you know,
That we, your people, aren't your real foes;
Your real nemesis, my dear,
Is you

At first, your thoughts may seem mild,
But after a while,
They'll start running wild,
Staining, tainting and darkening your pure, pure soul;

Your poisonous thoughts will,
Take away the goodness of your heart,
Take away the humanity within you,
And carefully replace it with -

Fiery, scalding, burning anger,
Cold, grudging bitterness,
And a deep, carnivorous hunger,
To annihilate the ones who love you;

So, stop being so mistrustful,
Open out your heart
Slowly at first,
Then all at once;

Do not fear being backstabbed,
Because no matter what,
There shall always be people,
Who will be there for you;

Do not fear getting heartbroken,
Because, my friend, you're so strong,
And there are thousands of others,
Who'd help you mend your heart;

Do not fear everybody,
There might be ten people,
Who might hurt you,
But a thousand more who love you;

Contrary to what you think,
Pushing away the world,
Will make you sadder,
Not safer;

Haha, I said I had no time but here I am, creating a messy poem while procrastinating!

I've always wanted to write about trust. I don't know why, but I've always been a person who trusts people easily. Not because I'm oh-so-naive or because I am a fool. I trust easily because it feels better, lighter and nicer somehow, to confide in people, instead of bottling up my emotions and pretending to live a lie.

Mistrustful people usually end up being depressed and depression is something which I would never wish upon my worst enemies.

It's a monster, depression, which enjoys seeing you suffer and which has sadistic pleasure in seeing your loved ones in anguish as you crumble deeper into the abyss.

What about you guys?

What are your thoughts on trust?

Stay awesome as ever,

Much love,

Archie

P.S.  A very dear friend of mine (Let's call her DC, okay! :) ) has started a mini Instagram blog called 'The Lost Wandering Spirit'.

DC was one of the very few people who had taken an active interest in my blog when I'd told her about it. It was thanks to people like her and my oldest best friends, that I made my blog the way it is, now.

Sometimes, you need people who inspire you to do what you love. It might sound something out of the movie version of Nicholas Spark's The Notebook, but your talents come out the best when you surround yourself with the people who love you and cherish you for who you are.

So here I am, proud to tell you all about DC's amazing Instagram page.

It's a mindblowing page, I assure you, where she's expressed her thoughts really wondrously! Her page is something which really connects with everybody.

And not a lot of writers can do that.

So do check out her page and hit the tempting 'Follow' button as soon as you read her lovely words! <3

  1. I do have a handful of people I share my thoughts and feelings with but I don't trust people easily because I've had experiences of people breaking it. I guess though it's something that everyone has to go through themselves to figure out how it works for them.

    1. Yeah!
      That's a very valid point, Kathie!
      Despite the fact that I've had people break my trust, I still believe it's not necessarily a "bad" or heinous thing.
      I don't know why, but it works for me!

  2. Hey!
    I like your poem but I love the reason why you trust people easily :)
    Amazing work :D
    It's nice your friends are interested in your blog.
    I'm not that trusting I'm sorry to say it takes me time before I'm comfortable enough with someone to tell them everything about everything. :-P

    1. Haha, me too, for that matter.
      Despite the fact I trust easily, I often take time to get attached to a lot of people. I'm hardwired to be a bit detached, I guess.
      But once I like someone and have the assurance that they won't do anything wrong, I start trusting them with my secrets!

  3. I used to trust people and I still want to, but they make it impossible. Above all I try not to be a cynical person, which is even harder.

    1. I know it too well that being un-cynical is too much effort.
