Love Is
Mixed verse.
***
Contrary to popular opinion,
Love is,
A lot more than,
Grand gestures, passionate declarations;
Love is,
A lot more than,
Grand gestures, passionate declarations;
Love is when a mother,
Comforts you so your pain goes away,
Gives your forehead a gentle kiss,
And a warm hug that's pure bliss;
Comforts you so your pain goes away,
Gives your forehead a gentle kiss,
And a warm hug that's pure bliss;
Love is when a father,
Sits beside and patiently, teaches you,
Everything about the mysteries of life,
Sits beside and patiently, teaches you,
Everything about the mysteries of life,
Stays strong beside you during a dark strife;
Love is when a grandma,
Makes you laugh,
With her hilarious anecdotes,
Of a village life filled with trees and boats;
With her hilarious anecdotes,
Of a village life filled with trees and boats;
Love is when a grandpa,
Pats your back,
Just so you peacefully fall asleep,
In times when you can only weep;
Pats your back,
Just so you peacefully fall asleep,
In times when you can only weep;
Love is when an uncle and aunt,
Take you out on weekends,
To celestial planetariums, glittering musicals,
Each moment with them is simply magical;
Take you out on weekends,
To celestial planetariums, glittering musicals,
Each moment with them is simply magical;
Love is when a little cousin,
Barges into your room,
And bosses over you,
Tells you what to do;
Barges into your room,
And bosses over you,
Tells you what to do;
Love is when you see,
A baby cousin,
Saying your name correctly, out loud,
Strangely, you can't help but feel proud;
A baby cousin,
Saying your name correctly, out loud,
Strangely, you can't help but feel proud;
Love is when you meet,
Your old school friends,
And realize that nothing has changed,
You all are still hilarious, still hopelessly deranged;
Your old school friends,
And realize that nothing has changed,
You all are still hilarious, still hopelessly deranged;
Love is when you surprise,
Your oldest best friend,
When she arrives from a foreign place,
Your equation still intact, no one can replace;
Your oldest best friend,
When she arrives from a foreign place,
Your equation still intact, no one can replace;
Love is when you are,
With your two crazy college friends,
Chattering all kinds of nonsense,
Which only to you three makes sense;
With your two crazy college friends,
Chattering all kinds of nonsense,
Which only to you three makes sense;
A family cherishing its newborn,
Friends protecting one another -
All these instances show that,
Love isn't restricted to romance;
All these instances show that,
Love isn't restricted to romance;
Love isn't just,
Whispering sweet amorous nothings,
Sneaking around like criminals,
And declaring the depth of it just to validate it;
And declaring the depth of it just to validate it;
Love is something,
Which doesn't need to be proved,
It happens to anybody at any point,
You just cannot predict when;
Love is the strongest feeling,
That anyone can feel,
The one who can love,
Will be the one who is the winner;
That anyone can feel,
The one who can love,
Will be the one who is the winner;

It's been a long time since I posted a poem here, haha.
As Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I thought: Hey, why don't I make a poem on what I think love is?
So, I mulled over an hour and came up with this poem. Some stanzas are derived from my personal life (if you know me, then you can guess who these people are) and some stanzas are influenced by what I have observed.
Hope you all enjoy Valentine's Day on 14th - alone or with some company! ;)
Stay awesome as ever,
Much love,
Archie <3

"Love is something that doesn't need to be proved." I love that. And I love the whole family angle you've taken here too. They're so unappreciated sometimes.

Thank you for typing down so many forms of love, so many ways of conceiving love, so many roles of poeple who provide love.
ReplyDeleteLove doesn't have a precise definition or a particular sense for me. But its essence remains the same I suppose.
Godspeed.
