A Cinderella Story

Okay, so this is my second post in a few hours. I couldn't resist posting this.
Today was a holiday in our school, so I was at home. I flicked through the newspaper, trying to find scoop on what movie will be on today so that I could do my homework alongside as I watched the movie. I saw that 'A Cinderella Story' was there in HBO, so I switched it on at 12. I'd seen the movie once before and I loved it - I didn't care whatever insane things the critics had written about it. I just loved it because it teaches a lot of fundamental things and at the same time, is very funny.
So, I started watching the movie from the very beginning. It starts with a nine-year-old girl called Samantha Montgomery (Played by Hilary Duff - one of my favourite actresses) who says that her life has everything - what did she need a wish for? When things changed drastically. Her widowed father remarried this annoying woman, Fiona (Portrayed by Jennifer Coolidge)  who had two twin daughters from her previous marriage. During an earthquake, Sam's father dies and leaves Sam at the mercy of Fiona and her daughters, Gabriella and Brianna - who treat her like a slave. Finally, when Sam is 17, we see that she's treated very badly by her stepmother and stepsisters. She works at the diner that belonged to her father (Now belongs to Fiona who's decorated the diner very horribly) and she has to work very hard so that she can get into Princeton. The only happiness she finds is from 'Nomad', her pen-pal who wants to become a writer. Nomad, however, is Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray) - the most popular guy in Sam's school.
For Halloween, Sam's school has this Halloween Dance where students are supposed to wear costumes and dance all the night. Sam isn't allowed to go because of Fiona, but she goes anyway, wearing her colleague, Rhonda's dress and a nicely decorated mask. Rhonda (Played by Regina King) in this movie is the Fairy Godmother.
Anyway, Sam goes to the party as mysterious Cinderella and comes to know that Austin Ames is her pen-pal 'Nomad'. She's surprised and worries that Austin wouldn't like to be friends with her if he knows that she - diner girl Sam - is Cinderella (Or Princeton Girl.).
The clock strikes twelve (Or in this case, the mobile phone buzzes in alarm at fifteen minutes to twelve). Sam leaves the party, forgetting her phone which is equal to the glass shoe in the original Cinderella story.
Now, Austin has just one clue - Cinderella's phone - to find out who his Cinderella is!
The whole movie is fascinatingly done and I can't fathom why the heck did the critics didn't like this flick. Hilary Duff is amazing. I loved her in Lizzie McGuire and I love her in this movie too!
This movie teaches you that fairy tales aren't just about getting your 'princes', rather, it's about fulfilling your dreams and sustaining through odds.
Love,
Eerie Fairy
