The Croods

I went out with one of my oldest friends to watch The Croods today.
And to be very frank. Do not miss the chance of watching that movie.
So anyhow, I'll get on with the review.
The Croods Family

The Croods is basically about a family in the prehistoric period surviving the odds. There's an overprotective father, Grug, who is scared of trying out new things, whose basic motto is like, 'always fear because fear keeps you alive'. There is his wife, Ugga, and her mother, the granny (the best character in the whole movie. Reminded me a lot of my granny). There are his three children, the spirited Eep, the bumbling Thunk and the violent little Sandy.
Guy, the idealist
One fine night, Eep sneaks out of the family's cave when she sees 'sunlight'. As she follows the 'sunlight', she meets up with Guy, a nomad who survives not through physical strength, but through ideas that pop into his head. Guy tells her that the 'sunlight' is called fire and also tells her about his theory of the world ending. He leaves, but not before giving her a conch (so that she can contact him when in trouble).
A while later, Grug finds her and takes her back to their cave home (she's supposed to be 'grounded' in the cave until she's grown old as Gran). Eep shows her family the conch which they destroy the minute because of the family's phobia for 'new' things. Soon after, an earthquake occurs, destroying everything around, including the family's cave.
As they emerge out of the debris, they see a beautiful, green land. Grug takes them there, in search of a new came.
In this new, unfamiliar land, as they're being chased by crazy beasts and equally crazy birds, Eep calls Guy, who has already come out here. Guy saves the family (not telling how!) and soon, the family grows closer to Guy (aside from Grug, who feels inferior. Who can blame him? He's an old-fashioned daddy while Guy's an idealistic young fellow whose ideas impress people).
I like how Grug and Guy finally resolve their differences and how Guy learns to change himself. You see, changing others might be a very easy task. But changing yourself is very hard. Also, I liked how the movie tries to portray the message that old things do not last forever. They have to pave the way for something new.
The relationship between Eep and Grug  is really sweet
The best thing that clicks with you is the relationship between Grug and Eep. When you're a teenager, your relationship with your parents often goes for a toss. Some of them are like, my parents are closest to me. But  I feel they're kind of lying. Because most teens just get their heads inflated and they're like, I so need my own space, Are they ever going to shut up? stuff like that. I don't know how parents can deal with that. I really have no idea how my parents deal with me screaming and wailing and acting like such a drama queen.
Anyhow, as I was saying, Grug and Eep's relationship is getting dissolved as the movie progresses, but in the end, the way how they hug each other? I'm really sorry - I'm a supposedly sane fifteen-year-old who's supposed to be bitingly sarcastic, has a stony heart and all - but I felt like I could cry. Seriously.
Anyhow, the movie's worth a watch. I'd rate it five out of five stars. :-)
Much love,
Eerie Fairy
